Kevin Parthenay

I am Full Professor of Political Science at the University of Tours, Junior Fellow of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF, 2022-2027), and a research associate at the United Nations University (UNU-CRIS) and OPALC/Sciences Po.

I am currently the Principal Investigator of the REGPOL-ALA research programme, funded by the French National Research Agency for the period 2023-2027, on the issue of international authority in regionalism. I co-edit the ‘Latin America and the Caribbean’ section of the Annuaire français des Relations Internationales (AFRI), with Elodie Brun (COLMEX), and the ‘regional multilateralism’ section of the Observatoire du multilatéralisme (GRAM).

My research focuses on comparative regionalism, Latin America's place in global multilateralism, the foreign policy of Latin American states and democracy in Central America.

The results of this research have been published in major international journals such as International Affairs, Global Studies Quarterly, Review of International Studies, Journal of European Integration, Foro Internacional and Revue Internationale de Politique Comparée.

I have published several books: A Political Sociology of Regionalisms (Palgrave Macmillan 2019), Crises in Latin America. Les démocraties déracinées (2020) and Politique de l'Amérique latine (Bruylant, 2023, with Frédéric Louault).

I taught at Sciences Po since 2010 on Latin American international relations and in many Latin American universities (Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Ecuador, Guatemala).
